Collaboration with photographer Eric Colonna and painter Vincent Mendoza

Designed the costumes and overall look for My Light Come Shining, a film debuting this May at Dances With Films LA.

The story follows Tommy, an embittered young man, as he returns to his dead mother’s house to inherit her possessions while trying to avoid getting sucked back into painful relationships. Tommy’s costuming reflects a character who’s trying to remain separate from everyone around him, while at the same time charming strangers into providing for him as he wanders the western United States. It’s a mixture of ragged, seductive, and childish.

Other characters I designed for this film are Aunt Carrie, an alcoholic woman who unsuccessfully tries to reconnect with Tommy, and Glenn, the last romantic partner of Tommy’s mother before she died.

I also decorated the sets, arranging furniture and other details in each frame to support the narrative of Tommy’s childhood home. Catholic imagery throughout the home hints that Tommy’s mother became deeply religious prior to her death.

Also contributed storyboards to help visualize certain scenes.

Art directed Welcome to the Beef Hole (2018).

Used surreal colors, inspired by 90s cartoons, to convey a nightmarishly decrepit restaurant. Maintained stylistic consistency across multiple layout artists and animators, ensuring that the stains, cracks and peeling linoleum add up to a grade-F eating experience.

Directed live action sequences and tied them in visually by running the whole project through an old VCR. Performed color grading in post to achieve that grimy-but-saturated 90s look.

Designed costume for a supernatural drifter / drug dealer, which was then fabricated by Mikayel Nguyen. Art was used as proof of concept to win the actor onto the project.

Created concept art for a music video, “Drown” by Campus Security.

Designed costumes for a squad of aliens (played by the band) who infiltrate the suburbs dressed as city workers. Designed each character with a band member in mind. Costumes were fabricated by Joey Hirsh.

Our hero Frito is just your run-of-the-mill Earthbound dandy until he stumbles headfirst into a terrorist plot to destabilize his perfect, decadent world.

He’ll meet the inept government caste of his planet—the glorified I.T. guys who maintain the vast artificial mind that runs society—and encounter the terrifying reality of the offworld forces that have united for the first time against Earth! He’ll grapple with the haves and the have-nots, travel to the broken, angry worlds beyond Earth, and encounter the benevolent, godlike AI that is attempting to direct the future of humanity …

Acted as art director on an LCAD group film, “Misery Loves Company” (2016). A girl named Charlotte experiences the bad side of speed dating.
